4-H Executive Board

The Florida State 4-H Council Executive Board consists of 4 delegates from each of the 13 4-H districts, up to 30 Executive Board Appointees, and the 8 Florida 4-H State Officers.

The Executive Board is a group of youth from across the state that represent their county and district. The members attend working committee meetings at Executive Board Weekend Events, during which they offer input into events such as 4-H University, Legislature,  4-H Day at the Capitol, and Intermediate State.

Committee members also play a vital role in the implementation of those events. Other committees work on planning and implementing a state-wide community service project, fund raising, parli pro education, entertainment, and communication support.

4-H Day at the Capitol

The 4-H Day at the Capitol Program provides youth with an opportunity to learn more about their state government and experience the political process first hand. 4-H members are highly encouraged to make an appointment with their representative, senator, or a legislative aide to talk about how the Florida 4-H Program has impacted their lives. During the day, participants will hear from public officials, participate in educational workshops, and see their legislators in action.

4-H Intermediate State

At Intermediate State, youth will: participate in educational work shops along with FUN SHOPS such as Podium Pizzazz, science, and shooting sports; make friends with 4-H members from around the state and learn what other 4-H’ers do in their communities; be given a sneak peak at the various events that will be available to them as Senior 4-H members such as 4-H Legislature, 4-H University, and State Council; attend a camp fire, 4-H dance, sports, and games.

4-H Legislature

4-H Members come develop your skills to debate, analyze legislation and speak  publicly, all while making new friends and having a whole lot of fun.  At this civic education event, you can sponsor a bill, amend, or lobby it, then debate the issues on the Capitol house and senate floors with your friends.  Legislature is open to youth 4-H Age 13 to 18 (as of September 1 of the current 4-H year).

4-H University

Florida 4-H University is a week-long overnight event for young adults held at the University of Florida.  Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in educational workshops led by University of Florida faculty, explore career opportunities, lead community service activities, interact with youth from all over the state, and have fun while developing critical thinking life skills that will help them become productive and engaged citizens in their communities, their country, and their world.
