Prospective Members
4-H is open to youth ages 5-18 years of age. Youth develop their skills and talents by participating in club activities, projects, events, and much more throughout the 4-H year. Please review the Prospective 4-H Member Information to assist you in finding a club and starting the enrollment process.
You can participate in 4-H through school 4-H clubs, community clubs, special interest groups, after school programs, camps, and many other activities. Although there are many common activities, each county in Florida has its own unique programs and areas of emphasis.
IN WHAT WAYS DO CLUBS ENGAGE?
Clubs usually engage in project work, business meetings, volunteering, and special interest programs, as well as educational, recreational and social activities. Each club schedules programs and activities based on interests and availability, and also engage in county or district level activities.
WHERE DO CLUBS MEET?
This depends on the group. School clubs meet monthly for 30 minutes to one hour during the school year. Community clubs, special interest groups, and after school programs meet for an hour or two after school, in the evening or on a Saturday. Some clubs meet once a week, others once or twice a month. It is important to have a regular meeting time; one that members and their families can remember.
WHAT DO I NEED TO CONSIDER WHEN JOINING A CLUB?
Osceola County has over 20 clubs currently spread out around the county, so families may have several nearby to choose from. The family may also choose a club based on membership (e.g. age of members) and project area, depending on how well they align with the family and the youth's interests. It is also important to consider a club's meeting location and schedule. A list of current clubs are available from our office, and we do our best to match a family with a club that meets their needs and interests.
