Natural Resources

.....

Lara Milligan serves as your Natural Resources Agent for UF/IFAS Extension Pinellas County. As an "extension" of the University of Florida, Lara is considered "county faculty" teaching all ages of visitors and residents of Pinellas County about the environment. In this role, Lara teaches about water, wildlife, urban forestry and other environmental topics. Read below to find out more...

Water Education

It's important that we take steps to conserve and protect our water resources. This includes protecting water quality and water supply. Every day we have the opportunity to have a positive impact on our water resources. You can learn more through Lara's core water programs: Florida Waters Stewardship Program, the Florida Microplastic Awareness Project, and the Adopt-A-Drain program.

Environmental Education

There is a lot to cover in the field of environmental education, but Lara's work focuses on coexisting with wildlife and creating connections with our natural world. She does this through guided hikes, educational programs, online content (videos, blogs, social media), including her core programs: a week-long educator workshop, wildlife of Florida webinar series, and her Naturally Florida podcast.

And More!

UF/IFAS Extension Pinellas County operates out of three office locations. Our two satellite offices are located at Brooker Creek Preserve and Weedon Island Preserve. Lara is stationed at Brooker Creek Preserve and helps to run the Environmental Education Center there where she and her amazing staff and volunteers offer a variety of guided hikes and educational programs.
