Club membership is open to all youth between the ages of 8 and 18 as of September 1st of the current year. Youth ages 5 to 7 also may participate as Cloverbuds. 4-H Clubs conduct regular meetings in various locations, including a member’s or leader’s home, community centers, libraries, parks and recreation facilities, civic organization buildings, or the agricultural center.
Putnam 4-H relies on dedicated volunteers to promote its mission to help youth gain the knowledge and life skills they need to be productive, responsible citizens. Your time as a volunteer will provide these youth the safe environment they need to pursue whatever interests, causes, and leadership roles that are most important to them.
Independent members participate in planned learning outside of the club setting. Their work is self-directed with guidance and support of parents and mentors. Independent membership allows youth an entry point into 4-H even if they are unable to align with a club schedule or project.
