ALACHUA COUNTY 4-H

. . . . .

4-H is the youth development program of UF/IFAS.  This program provides youth ages 5-18 the opportunity to learn life skills to be a productive member of society.  4-H employs "learning by doing" to teach these life skills.

About 4-H & How to Join

Find out all about 4-H including commonly used terms, the pledge, how to get involved, and more.  A list of resources for members, clubs, and volunteers is available here.

4-H Community Clubs & Current Member Resources

The best way to get immersed in a 4-H experience is to join a club.  All clubs develop leadership skills and do community service, but many clubs have a project focus, too.   Check out our directory for more information.

Competitive Events & Teams

Many 4-H'ers participate in competitions at the local, district, state, regional, and national levels. Youth can also get involved in competitive event teams to sharpen their skills in specific subject areas.

4-H in Schools

Teachers can request 4-H programs for their classrooms to supplement their educational content. Alachua County 4-H offers programs such as embryology, public speaking, Florida Agriculture in the Classroom, and more.

Youth Leadership

4-H offers many opportunities for youth to have a voice in their own life skill development. There are a number of opportunities available that allow youth to partner with adults to make positive change.

Summer Programming

There are many statewide programs and events during the summer that provide great opportunities for youth to experience a range of topics.

Volunteering with 4-H

4-H is all about Youth-Adult Partnerships, so we need caring adults to be involved in our programming, too! Check out our great volunteer opportunities.

Fundraising & 4-H Scholarships

4-H programming can't happen without support from the community. 4-H also offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to attend 4-H programs or for post-high school endeavors.

Alachua County Youth Fair and Livestock Show

The Alachua County Youth Fair and Livestock Show is an educational platform for the Alachua County 4-H and FFA youth ranging in age from 5-18 to exhibit their livestock and non-livestock projects.
