Broward County 4-H
Broward 4-H County Council
The council is composed of 4-h'ers from all clubs in Broward County. Each youth represents his/her club, and board members are elected to form a council. Council meetings are held monthly. Youth determine and plan the implementation of 4-H programs, events, and service-learning projects. The council provides an opportunity for youth to learn leadership skills as well as parliamentary procedures.
Broward 4-H Community Fair
The Broward 4-H Community Fair is usually held in March and provides 4-H youth the opportunity to have their work evaluated against the 4-H standard and be recognized for their hard work. The fair creates a forum for 4-H'ers to share ideas and inspire each other to make the best better. The fair's public day invites members of the community to view the judged exhibits, learn more about 4-H, and enjoy entertainment. Check out this YouTube video of the 2018 Broward 4-H Community Fair.
4-H at the South Florida Fair
Broward 4-H is invited to participate in the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach. Youth must be enrolled in 4-H Online by November 1, of the fair year in order to be eligible for fair entry. While the registration forms and exhibit categories have not yet been released for this year's fair, you may view the premium book from last year's fair below. Orange Blossom Festival Parade
Youth march in the annual Orange Blossom Parade in Davie dressed in costumes according to the year's theme and perform a chant or other activities in front of the judges' stand. This event gives 4-H'ers the opportunity to bond and connect with members across the county and show the community what 4-H is all about.

Summer Camps
IMPORTANT NOTICE: COVID-19 safety precautions
Florida 4-H and UF/IFAS Extension are committed to the safety and wellbeing of youth and volunteers. Due to health concerns, all summer camps will be virtual in summer 2020. We understand summer camp is an important and beloved activity for our county youth, and appreciate your understanding.
There are many fun, engaging camps for youth of all ages to participate in - all from the comfort of your own home. All camps are led by trained, screened 4-H or Extension staff members.

Camp Cloverleaf Residential Camp
4-H Camp Cloverleaf is an exciting, weeklong, overnight camp where 4-H participants can experience nature and learn essential life skills during a week of educational fun. Campers will take part in a variety of activities, such as team-building, fishing, canoeing, swimming, campfires, singing, dancing, archery, and much more. Youth ages 8 to 13 can participate as campers. Youth ages 14 to 18 can participate as Camp Counselors if selected. Contact cloverleaf4-Hpd@ufl.edu or visit their website for more information.
4-H Legislature
Held at Florida State University in Tallahassee, 4-H Legislature is a five-day laboratory in state government designed to give participants educational experiences such as: learning about the functions of state level government; becoming informed about the state system of government; writing and researching bills; serving as mock legislators, reporters, or lobbyists; meeting in the committee rooms of the House of Representatives as well as the House Chambers; and touring the State Capitol, Supreme Court, Archives, and/or other state buildings. All interested teens ages 13 and up need to be involved in the county government study in preparation for this state event.
4-H University
4-H University, held at the University of Florida in Gainesville, is open to 4-H participants ages 14 and up. This five-day event is held on the University of Florida campus during July. University is divided into competitive and noncompetitive sessions. The winners from the District Events participate in the state competition. In addition, each county sends its two voting delegates to state meetings. Interviews for scholarships and national trips are also held. This event has fun, educational tracks addressing the interests of Florida youth.

District XIII 4-H
District Council
Broward County is part of the District 13 4-H Council, which also includes Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. The District Council is open to members between the ages of 11 and 18. Youth on this council learn how to run a business meeting and work to promote 4-H values in the community.
District Events
All first-place winners from county Demonstrations & Illustrated Talks, Public Speaking, and Share the Fun Talent Show ages 8 and up are eligible for District Events. This competition includes Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. Senior winners ages 14 and up are eligible for state competition held at 4-H Congress in Gainesville in late July.

Leadership Adventure Weekend
Leadership Adventure Weekend (LAW) is a train-the-trainer type event for teen leaders ages 13 to 18 as of September 1 of the current 4-H year. Participants grow their leadership skills as they learn more about communication and expressive arts.
Intermediate State
At 4-H Intermediate State, youth ages 11 to 13 participate in educational workshops and fun-shops, make friends with 4-H members from around the state and learn what other 4-H'ers do in their communities, and are given a sneak peek at the various events that will be available to them as Senior 4-H members such as 4-H Legislature, 4-H University, and State.
State Council
The Florida 4-H Council is a youth governing body, made up of two 4-H Senior youth from each county. The State Council meets each year at 4-H University and elects the State Council Officers. The State Council program is based around a youth/adult partnership that gives feedback to the Florida 4-H Program. Executive Board
The Florida 4-H Executive Board is a leadership board for Florida 4-H. The group meets three times a year at different 4-H campsites to work on State Council projects.
State Horse Show
Preceding the area horse shows across the state, the State Horse Show is a competition in which the top percentage of qualifiers from these shows compete. Those also ranked in the top move on to participate in the National Horse Show in Kentucky in the fall of each year.
4-H Day at the Capitol
4-H Day at the Capitol provides youth with an opportunity to learn more about their state government and experience the political process first hand. 4-H members are highly encouraged to make an appointment with their representative or a congressional aide to talk about how the Florida 4-H Program has impacted their lives. During the day, participants will hear from public officials, participate in educational workshops, and see their representatives in action.

National 4-H
National 4-H Conference
The National 4-H Conference is annually held in Chevy Chase, Maryland, in late March. The conference is a delegate that contributes ideas on how to improve and strengthen the 4-H program nationwide.
Citizenship Washington Focus
Held in Chevy Chase, Maryland, Citizenship Washington Focus is an educational, week-long program to foster an opportunity to experience government operations and issues.
Leadership Washington Focus
Leadership Washington Focus is a 4-H leadership program for youth entering grades 7 through 9. The program will take place at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center, just one mile from the Washington, D.C. border.
Southern Region Teen Leadership Conference (SRTLC)
SRTLC is a first-of-its-kind, multistage 4-H conference created to bring together 4-H teens and adults to empower and inspire them to make a positive change across the southern region through youth-adult partnerships.

4-H Camps
Broward County 4-H offers spring, summer, and winter camps. These may range from day camps covering topics such as animal and veterinary science, robotics, sewing, and environmental science, to overnight camps. Local overnight camps allow youth to experience an affordable weekend of learning outdoors, while annual Camp Cloverleaf in Lake Placid gives youth the opportunity to learn and have fun while at a week-long residential summer camp.
