Connect deeper to Florida's Natural Areas with 4-H Youth Programs!

There are many ways Junior Naturalists can get involved in 4-H. Locally and throughout the state, youth ages 5-18 can find an event, project, or competition within 4-H that suits there needs and sparks their interests.

Nature Poetry Contest

Poetry offers a unique chance to express what matters to us—whether it's something we observe, wonder about, or simply find joy in. The annual Florida 4-H Nature Poetry Contest is open to youth ages 8-18 to submit an original poem where nature and the outdoors is subject or inspiration.

4-H Forest Ecology Contest

The 4-H Forest Ecology Clinic is held in the fall each year at Austin Cary Forest in Gainesville, FL. Youth will have an opportunity to learn from experts and practice and apply knowledge and skills in tree and wildlife identification; using a map and compass; identifying insects, diseases, and stresses that impact forest health, and more!

Submit projects in local fairs

Youth from Broward County can submit projects in either the South Florida Fair or the Miami Youth Fair. Projects that earn ribbons also receive cash premiums. Youth may enter in projects such as horticulture, arts & crafts, photography, dioramas, and more!
