Horses and Riders Working in an Arena

Lake County 4-H Horse Program

The purpose of the 4-H Horse Program is to provide young people an opportunity to participate in a series of activities designed to improve citizenship, sportsmanship, horsemanship, character, competitive spirit, discipline, and responsibility while creating an atmosphere for learning and awareness of the life about us.

Youth involved in the Horse Program have opportunities to compete in horse shows at the county, district, state, and regional levels. If your 4-H'er doesn't have a horse, there are plenty of opportunities for unmounted competitions such as hippology, horse judging, skill-a-thon, and quiz bowl.

If your child is enrolled in the horse project, join the Lake County 4-H Horse Facebook page to stay up to date on all information.
