Lawns, Landscapes - Turf & Sod Production

Commercial horticulture works with turf for lawns and sports. From sod farmers, to athletic fields and golf courses, turfgrass contributes approximately $300 million to Florida's economy annually. UF/IFAS Extension is here to assist. Florida grows 1 billion square feet of turfgrass every year.

Best Management Practices & Integrated Pest Management

Best management practices (BMP) are environmentally safe practices that help conserve and protect Florida’s ground and surface waters. Integrated pest management (IPM) is an informed selection and implementation of pest control measures involving the use of multiple strategies with an emphasis on more sustainable and environmentally safe options. Together BMP & IPM practices provide better water resource protection.

Trees

Selection of trees requires site evaluation, maintenance considerations, proximity to roadways, sidewalks, driveways and buildings. Florida-friendly and hurricane resistance are an important aspect of tree selection. Proper pruning promotes sound tree structure while promoting long life. Know the size of a tree at maturity prior to planting. Call 811 before you dig.
