4-H CLUBS

A 4-H Club is an organized group that meets at least once a month (except over the summer, see camps for summer opportunities) with adult volunteers or 4-H staff to focus on hands-on educational experiences. The purpose of a 4-H Club is to provide positive youth development and educational opportunities that develop life skills critical to putting youth on a trajectory to thrive in life.

Clubs normally meet between 9-12 times a year throughout most or all of the year. The club meetings are often supplemented by project meetings, practices, competitions, fairs, camps, and other 4-H learning experiences. Clubs must have at least 5 youth members from 2 different families.

Community Club:

These clubs are held in communities throughout the county and are involved in a variety of projects. The projects may change from year to year in a community club.

Project Club:

Project clubs focus on one educational area each year.  (Example: Dogs and Archery Clubs)

Special Interest (SPIN) Club:

Focus on learning about a topic of interest and may vary on how frequently they meet. SPIN clubs may or may not have officer leadership opportunities, but always have an educational focus.

Youth

Club membership is open to all youth between the ages of 8 and 18 as of September 1st of the current year. Youth ages 5 to 7 also may participate as Cloverbuds. 4-H Clubs conduct regular meetings in various locations, including a member's or leader's home, community centers, libraries, parks and recreation facilities, civic organization buildings, or the agriculture center. Members participate in service-learning projects, give presentations, serve as club officers, and complete educational projects that are turned in by the first working day in June for awards and recognition. Members are considered active if they have completed at least 6 hours of work in a project as evident through their project work turned into the 4-H Office.
