PESTICIDE CONTROL TRAINING & EXAMINATIONS

To apply restricted-use pesticides to any outdoor area in Florida not associated with buildings or public health pest control, you must have a pesticide applicator license issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).

Restricted use pesticide licenses are not valid for:

  • Residential applications,
  • Structural pest control,
  • Application within 10 feet of any building, or
  • Public health pest control (mosquito control, etc.).

  • WHAT PESTICIDE LICENSE DO I REQUIRE?

    If you are unsure of the license you require, please reference the Certification and License Requirements Chart.

  • HOW DO I APPLY TO TAKE A PESTICIDE EXAM?

    UF/IFAS Putnam County administers Pesticide Exams every First and Third Wednesday of the Month between the hours of 8:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.

    To Schedule a Pesticide Exam in Putnam County, please follow the directions below:

    • Please visit this website: https://pesticideexam.ifas.ufl.edu/ and click on "Apply for Examination" 
    • It will redirect you to this page. Please select one of the three different options " Chapter 482, Chapter 487, or Chapter 388." Not sure which license to choose? Select the link "Need Help Choosing a License"

    • Go back to https://pesticideexam.ifas.ufl.edu/  and click on "Schedule Examination" Select the date that works best for you.

  • HOW MUCH DO PESTICIDE EXAMS COST?

    It is absolutely FREE to take a test at UF/IFAS Extension Putnam County.

    Once exams are passed, FDACS will contact you directly with steps that need to be taken to acquire your license.

    The Fee Schedule for new licenses and renewals is:

    • Private Applicator License               $100
    • Public Applicator License                $100
    • Commercial Applicator License       $250
