Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Certifications for Landscape Professionals
Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) Training
The Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) training provides science-based, environmentally responsible landscaping practices that help protect Florida’s water resources.
Under Florida law, commercial fertilizer applicators are required to hold a Limited Fertilizer Applicator Certification (LF license) issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) (s. 482.1562, F.S.). To obtain this certification, applicators must complete GI-BMP training and receive a certificate of completion from UF/IFAS and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
GI-BMP training is required for fertilizer applicators and is also valuable for:
- Lawn care and landscape professionals
- Pest control operators
- Landscape designers
- Property managers
- Government and municipal staff
- Anyone involved in landscape maintenance or management
Completing GI-BMP training ensures professionals are using best practices that support healthy landscapes while conserving and protecting Florida’s natural resources.
