Food Safety and Canning
Classes are held at the UF/IFAS Suwannee Co. Extension office in Live Oak or at various locations throughout the community. Many resources are online to help you take the first steps.
Food Manager Certification (October 4, 2021)
National certification good for 5 years through National Restaurant Association. Review class and exam $110 or w/7th ed. textbook $165. Look at list of classes or schedule a private class for your establishment. Call 888-232-8723 to register or 386-362-2771 for questions. No walk-ins. Starts at 8:30am and exam starts around 3:30pm. Plan for around 8 hrs. Must obtain score of 75% to pass. No "test-only" option.
Food Handler's classes or General Food Safety
Food safety is important at home or at work. Learn to keep you and your family safe. Call to set up the SafeStaff program. $15/person. Minimum of five for onsite classes personalized to your needs.
Canning and Food Preservation
Do you know when to use a pressure canner vs. a water bath canner? If not, a mistake could be deadly. Learn about proper procedures, equipment and techniques. Learn to troubleshoot. Suwannee County Extension can help! If you are interested in signing up for an upcoming class, call 386-362-2771.
