The horticulture program at UF/IFAS Extension Columbia County offers research-based education and resources for homeowners, landscapers, farmers, and businesses. Programs cover topics such as gardening, turf and landscape management, Florida-Friendly Landscaping™, home food production, and cut flowers, helping the community grow plants successfully while conserving natural resources.

Master Gardener Volunteers 

The UF/IFAS Extension Columbia County Master Gardener Volunteer Program trains residents in horticulture and Florida-Friendly Landscaping™. Volunteers support the Extension office by teaching workshops, caring for demonstration gardens, and helping the community with gardening and environmental questions.

Cut Flowers 

The UF/IFAS Extension Columbia County, led by horticulture agent Erin Harlow, offers a cut flower program that provides education, natural trials, and resources to help local growers and gardeners successfully grow flowers for personal and commercial use.

Home Food Production

The UF/IFAS Extension Columbia County provides education and resources on home food production, helping residents grow their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs using research-based practices for healthy, sustainable harvests.

Through the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) program, UF/IFAS Extension Columbia County teaches residents how to conserve water and protect natural resources by using environmentally friendly yard and garden practices.
