What is 4-H?

We are part of a nationwide program that helps kids learn new things, have fun, discover their interests, make great friends, and become leaders. 4-H offers young people hands-on learning for their Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.

4-H Clubs

4-H is all about learning by doing! Club members explore projects they enjoy and meet from September through May.
Enrollment opens on August 1, 2026 for the 2026-2027 4-H year.

  • Panhandle Poultry Project 4-H Club - Poultry - Beginner Years 1 & 2
    Ages 5-18
  • Roots & Roosts 4-H Club - Poultry - Advanced Years 3 and up
    Ages 8-18
  • Sure Shots 4-H Club - Shotgun
    Ages 11-18

Ready to Join 4-H?

  1. Enroll online at 4honline starting August 1, 2026.
  2. Pick a 4-H Club and a project.
  3. Pay the $20 Florida 4-H Membership Fee online.
  4. After you enroll, your club leader will contact you about meeting times.
  5. At your first meeting, pay club dues. Club dues are separate from the membership fee and help buy club supplies.

Washington County 4-H Youth Fair

This annual event lets kids show their talents and 4-H members display their projects. Since 1973, thousands of young people have taken part!

    • General Entries: Art, Crafts, Photography, Models, Needlework/Sewing, Baked Goods, Baked Goods Decorating, Canned Goods
  • 2026-2027 Washington County Youth Fair Livestock Rule Book - coming soon!
    • Breeding Beef, Steer, Swine, and Goat projects: 4-H & FFA members only from Washington, Holmes, & Bay counties 
    • Poultry, Eggs, Graphic Design, Photography: Washington County 4-H members only

Want to Volunteer?

4-H clubs are led by caring, skilled adults. We need volunteers for short-term and long-term roles like:

  • Judging contests and record books
  • Helping with the Youth Fair
  • Teaching workshops
  • Leading clubs
