Small Farms & Natural Resources

Small Farms

Welcome to the Small Farms page for Gadsden County Extension. Gadsden County is a very agricultural rich county. There are many types and sizes of farms throughout the county. These farms could range from a few acres to over hundreds of acres. Also, there is a diverse selection of crops including vegetables and fruits that have been farmed for generations within this county and continues to pass on to new generations. The Gadsden County Extension program attends and hosts a variety of agricultural workshops to gain knowledge and information to help benefit the citizens of Gadsden County. Workshops for the community are held throughout the entire year and many participants attend to refresh their knowledge, while others attend to gain new knowledge they have been wanting to know.

Natural Resources

Gadsden County is home to a very unique and special natural environment. Forests, rangelands, and aquatic ecosystems are just some of the few diverse ecosystems scattered throughout the county. Extension resources can benefit the community concerning range, pasture, aquatic bodies of waters, invasive species, wildlife and water. Also, Gadsden County has a good forestry department that works with extension. Together, extension and forestry specialists, work every day to learn about the latest and most updated information in natural resource management to transfer that knowledge to the community.
