2023-2024 DAY CAMPS

OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD FOR CAMPS ENDS MARCH 15TH, 2024. AFTER THIS DATE, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED REGARDING THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION. 

Our Leon County 4-H Day Camps are staffed by carefully screened and trained adults who are knowledgeable at applying key principles of positive youth development. Each camp has been designed to provide a welcoming environment with enriching activities aimed to spark you child's curiosity in learning. 

We strongly believe that every child deserves to pursue their passions and talents, regardless of their financial situation. Partial and full scholarships are available. Please apply at https://forms.office.com/r/73K7ZiTiVm.

Please note that participation in our camps is determined by the youth's age as of September 1st, 2023. 

Spring Break Camp

  • Watershed Wonders Spring Break Camp

    Discover the wonders of our local watershed at our exciting two-day spring break camp! During this camp, youth will learn about the significance of the St. Marks Watershed, exploring its vital role in our environment and the current challenges it faces. Youth will learn how we, as responsible citizens, can contribute to protecting this essential natural resource, all while enjoying an immersive, hands-on experience in the great outdoors that includes kayaking and hiking.

    This workshop offers an ideal blend of fun and learning, inspiring our youth to become stewards of one of Florida's most valuable natural resources.

    Date: March 13-14, 2024

    Time: 8:30AM-4:30PM

    Ages: 13-18

    Cost: $40

SUMMER DAY CAMPS

Leon County 4-H is excited to announce five weeks of summer day camps designed to get youth outdoors!

In addition, our 4-H agent will be attending 2 state-level overnight events that take place at the UF Campus in Gainesville, Florida. Information about these events can be found below. 

Please note that participation in our camps is determined by the youth's age as of September 1st, 2023. 

  • Week 1: Wildlife Camp

    Come spend a week with us outdoors as we learn about forestry, soils, wildlife, shooting sports, fishing, and kayaking.

    Date: June 3-7, 2024

    Time: 8AM- 5PM 

    Ages: 10-18

    Cost: $100

  • Week 2: Plant Science Camp

    Dive into the world of botany where you can unearth the secrets of plants through interactive experiments, outdoor adventure, and hands-on learning.

    Date: June 10-14, 2024

    Time: 8:30AM-4:30PM

    Ages: 8-13 

    Cost: $100

  • Week 3: Entomology Camp

    Join us as we learn all about insects and what makes them unique! During this camp, we will learn about insect life cycles, adaptations, insect movement and sense, habitats, and insect roles in our ecosystem.  

    *ALLERGY WARNING: will include exposure to local plants, bees, and honey*  

    Date: June 20-21, 2024

    Time: 8:30AM-4:30PM 

    Ages: 8-13 

    Cost: $60

  • Week 4: Tailgate Grilling

    Come learn the art and science of safely preparing meats and vegetables in an outdoor setting. Campers will also learn fire safety and the steps needed to avoid cross contamination when grilling or preparing food.   

    Date: June 26-27, 2024

    Ages: 10-18

  • Week 5: A Taste of our World

    Discover the origins of your favorite dishes while exploring the intersection of history, science, and ecology in shaping global traditions.

    We would like to thank Halisi Africa and Cafe de Martin for joining us in our travels this year. 

    *ALLERGY WARNING: Please note that meats, spices, nuts, fruits, soy, and milk will be used in these activities. *

    Time: 8:30AM-4:30PM  

    Ages: 13-18
