UF/IFAS Leon County Extension Summer Camp Teen Counselor Applications are now OPEN

UF/IFAS Leon County Extension is delighted to announce the return of teen counselors for our summer camps! Teen Summer Camp Counselors are vital to our summer camp programming. They help provide a safe and engaging learning environment for young campers.

Teen Counselor will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, work closely with UF faculty and experts, and gain valuable experience in youth education and outdoor activities. This role is perfect for teens seeking to contribute positively to their community, learn new skills, and enjoy a rewarding summer experience. Applications are open to teens aged 14-18.   • Why volunteer with us?

    Our Teen Counselor program offers a unique opportunity to enhance leadership abilities and acquire knowledge directly from UF Faculty, all while exploring our natural resources and career possibilities.

    Not only will you make new friends and gain practical experience, but this role also provides a valuable addition to your college application, showcasing your skills and your commitment to our community.

  • Who can apply?

    All teens between ages of 14-18 as of September 1, 2023.

    You do not have to be a current 4-H member to apply!

  • What to expect?

    Teen Camp Counselors will be the link between campers and staff during our Leon County 4-H summer camps. Throughout the week they will set the example, lead fun, and assist staff with camp activities while developing their leadership skills.

  • When is the application due?

    Applications to be a Camp Counselor open on January 15, 2024- March 15, 2024. The Leon County 4-H Team will review all application starting in March and will inform applicants of their acceptance no later than March 25th, 2024.

    There will be mandatory virtual and in-person trainings between the months of April-May 2024.

    On the application, please answer all the questions.

    Please indicate which Leon County 4-H Camp you are available to be Camp Counselor at. The schedule of summer camps can be found here.

    Your application will be complete and ready for review by the Leon County 4-H Team once you have submitted the application.
