Commercial Horticulture

UF/IFAS Extension's Commercial Horticulture program:

  • Provides training and technical support to sod production, plant nurseries, and green industry professionals. 
  • Teaches scouting for pests to reduce pesticide use and diagnosis of turfgrass issues. 
  • Educates on water conservation, water quality, nutrient management in landscapes, safe pest management, and pesticide usage.
  • Provides commercial pesticide applicator trainings and courses for continuing education credits (CEUs). 
  • Teaches Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) that promotes responsible use of fertilizer, pesticides, irrigation, and the best cultural practices that will reduce negative environmental impacts.
