Agriculture Day

Agriculture is a part of all of us, and Ag Day is a perfect time to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by agriculture across the state of Florida.

What is 4-H Agriculture Day?

4-H Agriculture Day gives 4-H Clubs an opportunity to educate the local youth about the importance of agriculture and how it impacts their lives daily, even when they don’t realize it.

Taylor Annual 4-H Ag Day

Even through 2020 Ag day continued though virtual. The annual 4-H Agriculture Day attracted eleven 5th grade classes from Taylor County Elementary School and Point of Grace Christian on November 1, 2019, at the Taylor County Extension Office.  Volunteers shared their knowledge through eleven rotations that featured a variety of agriculture and natural resources that impact our State and County.

Classes included: Four Rivers Timber and Land….from tree to consumable products; Farm Bureau…growing citrus; FWC….reptiles; and Bees, to name a few.  At the end of the presentations, the kids were invited to look at the reptiles and aquatic animals and were able to sample locally grown citrus as well as a chance to taste Satsuma juice.

How You Can Make a Difference

  • Become involved at your local farmer's markets
  • Plant a kitchen garden
  •  Visit local farms to show your children where their commodities come from

4-H Agriculture Day would not be possible without the assistance of outstanding and dedicated volunteers, clubs, local families, organizations, and businesses that provide knowledge, animals, products, and donations. “Agriculture is a vital part of Florida’s heritage, economic foundation, and future potential."
