Get Involved

Youth can get involved in Florida 4-H many different ways:

Membership age is determined by the youth’s age as of September 1 of the current program year, which runs from September 1 through August 31. The minimum age for a 4-H member is five years old, and the maximum age is eighteen years old or until high school graduation, whichever comes first. Youth who are older than eighteen but have qualified for a national contest as the final event for their project learning may still participate, as long as they meet the official contest rules and eligibility requirements. Students classified as “exceptional” by the State Board of Education, according to Florida Statute 1003.01(3)(a), may continue participating in 4-H programs until they reach twenty-one years of age or graduate from high school, whichever occurs first.
