Bay County 4-H

4-H is a Fun Way To Learn and Grow

4-H is an exciting and educational program for young people ages 5 through 18, and everyone is welcome to join. There are no membership fees required, although some projects or activities may have small costs for materials or supplies. Joining a 4-H club is a great way to meet new friends, learn interesting skills, and have fun together. Clubs meet in schools, community centers, or sometimes at the home of a dedicated 4-H volunteer leader. One of the best things about 4-H is the many different ways you can participate and get involved. The easiest way to find the right program for you is to contact your local 4-H office for guidance. With help from your 4-H agent, you can explore exciting programs and discover activities that match your interests.

What do you want to learn?

Through a 4-H project, you will learn new skills and discover better ways to accomplish many different tasks. These projects teach through hands-on activities that make learning fun and practical for real-life situations. You might go on a field trip, compete in a contest, give a speech, or even work with animals. Every project helps youth develop leadership and communication skills while having fun and building confidence at the same time.

Florida 4-H offers many projects in areas such as:

  • Animal and Plant Sciences
  • Environmental Education
  • Individual & Family Resources
  • Science & Technology
  • Citizenship & Leadership
  • Communication Arts & Career Exploration

4-H is about people too!!

Volunteer leaders play a huge role in making 4-H successful by sharing their time, talents, and knowledge with youth. Nearly 20,000 caring and well-trained volunteers help 4-H members learn, grow, and “Make the Best Better” every day.

4-H involves families

Families today are always changing, and 4-H continues to adapt by creating opportunities for parents and children to learn together. Family involvement is strongly encouraged because it helps members with projects and provides support for transportation to events.

The 4-H Experience

4-H offers many ways to participate, and the best part is that you choose how involved you want to be.

Community 4-H Clubs

Members meet regularly with trained adult volunteers who guide projects and help youth plan programs, elect officers, and serve their communities.

Other Ways to Participate

4-H programs are offered in cooperation with many agencies and organizations.

  • School enrichment programs bring 4-H into classrooms.
  • Parks and recreation centers often host 4-H day camps filled with fun and learning.
  • Florida’s residential 4-H camps, like Camp Timpoochee near Bay County, allow youth to explore nature and enjoy outdoor adventures.

Making friends through 4-H helps young people understand and respect others from different backgrounds and communities. From big cities to small towns, 4-H clubs exist in all 67 Florida counties, so there is likely one near you. You are welcome to view our current clubs.
