4-H is the youth development program of the University of Florida and other land-grant universities throughout the United States. This international program provides children and young adults ages 5 to 18 the opportunity to learn the life skills they need to be productive members of society, responsible citizens, and future leaders. 4-H employs the experiential learning theory which revolves around “learning by doing” to teach these skills. The program ensures that each youth will encounter a safe and inclusive learning environment, led by caring adults, to explore content based on land grant university research and resources. Some of the strongest and most popular programs here in Highlands County include Shooting Sports, Livestock and Animals, Plant Science, Leadership, and Citizenship.
4HOnline is a web-based system used to enroll youth members and adult volunteers in the UF-IFAS 4-H Youth Development Program. 4HOnline is designed so that each family has an online family profile and every youth and volunteer has an individual profile under their family profile. These profiles can be managed by the family.
