2017 Citizens Academy

The coolest civics class you will ever take!

The Brevard County Citizens Academy is a 12-week look behind the scenes of county government. You get to meet your county department directors while learning about a variety of topics. Here are just a few of the topics you will learn:

• Learn how the county budget is developed; 
• find out how traffic signals are synchronized; 
• learn how the landfill works; 
• discover how the county prepares for disasters
• find out how the library selects books;
• learn who to call if you have code enforcement or zoning questions;
• find out how you can make a difference in your community; and,
• much, much more!

When and Where

Classes meet at various locations throughout the county for nine Fridays begining January 20 and ending on March 17. Class starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends no later than 3:00 p.m. Lunch will be included most class days, but some days we will ask you to bring your own.

Cost

The class is free to Brevard County residents over age 18.
