Lake or Pond Management

Erosion Control

Erosion of the shoreline is a common lake problem. While erosion is preventable, most HOA/COA managers aren't aware of the issue until is becomes a problem. Fixing erosion is an expensive undertaking. Here are three of most common solutions to lake erosion:

  • Stabilize the shoreline using concrete, riprap, geotube, or other material.
  • Restore the banks along the lake by grading. New sod must be added, and a stabilizing product as mentioned above should be used.
  • The least expensive method, and probably the least popular, is to create a littoral shelf with native aquatic plants.
