Community Educational Outreach

Volunteers develop and teach informative and hands-on sessions for the public on a wide variety of topics including pests, local plants, and Florida friendly gardening practices. See the calendar on our homepage to sign up for a program at the Extension office or at various sites in the community.
Volunteers also create educational materials and videos on seasonal topics to introduce plants or help address a common landscape issue.

Demonstration Gardens

Volunteers develop and maintain nine garden areas that showcase plants for Escambia County and common horticulture practices.  Areas also include problems common in our area.  Many classes use the gardens to demonstrate practices for both homeowners and professionals. Gardens are open to the public M-F 8:00 - 4:30 and during special scheduled events.

Plant Diagnostics and Recommendations

Master Gardeners are available to help the public determine plant problems and proper courses of action to improve plant health.  Recommendations are also provided in the office, by phone, or at plant clinics about plant selection.

Youth Education

Volunteers lead educational experiences related to gardening and environmental science for school and community youth.
