Horticulture

The Horticulture Program shares easy‑to‑understand, research‑based information to help homeowners, plant professionals, and young people learn about gardening and landscaping. We offer classes and help people solve plant problems so they can grow healthy plants and protect the environment. We also provide training for best practices and pesticide licensing for professionals. Florida Master Gardener Volunteers

Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who are certified by UF/IFAS Extension. They help the community by teaching people about plants and gardening. Master Gardeners work on important topics like protecting water quality and using pesticides safely. They answer gardening questions from homeowners, help schools create learning gardens, make educational materials, and take part in community gardening events.

Horticulture Professional Licenses

All horticulture workers who use pesticides or fertilizers as part of their job must have a license from the Florida Department of Agriculture. You can learn about the different types of licenses and the training you need to get them. Be sure to check our calendar for upcoming training classes.
