Who We Are
Serving the residents and agricultural community of Hendry County with up to date information, modern technology and innovative solutions for rural living and production oriented agriculture.
Hendry County Cooperative Extension is a partnership between the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Hendry County Government.
In 1914, Congress started the Extension Service to help share useful information from land-grant universities like the University of Florida. This service helps people by sending research-based knowledge into local communities. Teachers and experts from the university work in all 67 counties in Florida. They teach and share information through county offices and education centers. The strong partnership between counties and the university helps bring valuable resources to each community.
Even though the mission to share helpful, research-based knowledge hasn’t changed, the way it’s shared has gotten better over time. County Extension staff listen to what local people need and create programs based on those needs. These programs cover important topics and are offered all across the state.
People can learn through websites, classes, videos, online tools, or printed materials. The Extension Service gives clear, unbiased information from the University of Florida, helping Floridians make smart choices that improve their homes, businesses, and communities.
