Volunteer Application Process

Florida 4-H needs caring adults to help support young people as they learn and grow. Here’s how you can become a volunteer:

  1. Contact Us First
Reach out to the Leon County 4-H office. We’ll tell you about current volunteer opportunities and how to get started.

  2. Fill Out an Application
You’ll complete a form that asks about your background, skills, interests, and when you’re available to help.

  3. Meet with the 4-H Team
We’ll schedule a short interview so we can learn more about you and see how your interests match our program’s needs.

  4. Background Check
To keep youth safe, all volunteers must pass a background check.

  5. Attend Training
If accepted, you’ll go through a training session to learn about 4-H’s mission, how to work with young people, and what your role will be.

  6. Get Placed in a Role
After training, you’ll be matched with a volunteer role that fits your interests and helps support youth in our programs. Club placements happen every Fall and Spring.
