The Commercial Horticulture program provides research based information to Green Industry professionals including landscape businesses, pest control companies, government groundskeepers, and property managers. Faculty provide programming in environmentally-conscious pesticide and fertilizer application; sustainable plant selection, installation and maintenance; and conservation practices that help improve water quality. They also work with individuals interested in the Florida Master Naturalist Program.

Pesticide Licensing and Renewal

Industrial professionals can obtain licensing and CEUs in the following categories: Chapter 482-Structural/Residential Pesticide Licensing, Chapter 487-Agriculture/RUP Licensing, and Chapter 388-Public Health/Mosquito Control.

Industry Certifications

Horticulture professionals can obtain certifications in Green Industry Best Management Practices (GI-BMP), International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), Florida Irrigation Society (FIS) and Florida Nursery Grower and Landscape Association (FNGLA) horticulture professional. Continuing education units are also available for these certifications.

Florida Master Naturalist Program

The mission of the Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP) is to promote awareness, understanding, and respect of Florida's natural world among Florida's citizens and visitors. The Florida Master Naturalist Program is an adult education UF/IFAS Extension program developed by the University of Florida and pro­vided by many Extension offices and participating organizations throughout the state of Florida.
