Lawns, Landscapes - Turf & Sod Production

Commercial horticulture works with turf for lawns and sports. From sod farmers, to athletic fields and golf courses, turfgrass contributes approximately $300 million to Florida's economy annually. UF/IFAS Extension is here to assist. Florida grows 1 billion square feet of turfgrass every year.

Integrated Pest Management

Integrated pest management, or IPM, is a comprehensive approach to managing plant pests. IPM uses many different methods to cause the least harm to people, property, and the environment. IPM’s emphasis is on the management of problems, rather than their eradication. Pesticides are only one weapon in the arsenal of IPM practices, and they are typically used only after a number of other tactics have been tried.

Trees

Selection of trees requires site evaluation, maintenance considerations, proximity to roadways, sidewalks, driveways and buildings. Florida-friendly and hurricane resistance are an important aspect of tree selection. Proper pruning promotes sound tree structure while promoting long life. Know the size of a tree at maturity prior to planting. Call 811 before you dig.
