Residential Horticulture

We help people and professionals create and care for beautiful landscapes that work well with Florida’s special soil and weather. We also answer gardening and landscaping questions through our Plant Clinic, where friendly Master Gardener volunteers are ready to help.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™

The Florida‑Friendly Landscaping™ Program shows you how to make smart, earth‑friendly choices in your garden. It was created to help save water and protect Florida’s natural resources for the future.

Master Gardener Program

Master Gardeners are volunteers who love gardening and enjoy teaching others. This program is made up of caring people who want to learn more about plants and give back to their communities.

The 9 Principles of Florida-Friendly Landscaping™

A Florida‑Friendly Landscape is a healthy, beautiful yard that is planned and cared for using nine Florida‑Friendly Landscaping™ principles. These principles help protect the environment by using water, fertilizer, and bug control the right way. They also encourage helping wildlife, stopping soil erosion, recycling yard waste, and using smart landscaping ideas based on research from the University of Florida.
