What is Extension

Extension is a partnership between state, federal, and county governments that gives the public access to science‑based information and expert help. The University of Florida (UF), together with Florida A&M University (FAMU), work together to run the Florida Cooperative Extension Service.

At the University of Florida, Extension is part of the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS). IFAS also includes the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences(CALS) and the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station.

Who Are We

UF/IFAS Extension in Florida is a statewide group of experts who work with local communities. Their goal is to share useful, research‑based information that helps people, the environment, and communities stay healthy and strong.

Extension includes thousands of faculty members, scientists, educators, staff, and volunteers. They all work together to help people solve everyday problems.
