Who We Are

UF/IFAS Extension was created by the Smith‑Lever Act in 1914. It is a partnership between state land‑grant universities, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and county governments across the country. These groups work together to plan, fund, and run Extension programs. In Florida, the Cooperative Extension Service is run by the University of Florida.

Extension Agents work in every county. They connect university experts with people in the community. Extension staff create and lead educational programs in farming, 4‑H, family and consumer sciences, gardening, and marine science.
