4-H Camps

Camp Timpoochee

Bay, Gulf, Franklin and Wakulla Counties will be camping together July 6-10, 2020 at Timpoochee 4-H Center, 4750 Timpoochee Ln, Niceville, FL 32578.

This is an experience your child will never forget! Allow them to join us for five days and four nights at the beautiful 4-H Camp Timpoochee located on the Choctawhatchee Bay. Camp facilities are very nice with 10 beds per cabin, indoor restroom and showers, and air conditioning. A daily snack from the canteen and a summer camp t-shirt are included in the camp fees, along with three nutritious meals per day prepared on site by our certified food safety staff.

Camper spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To be a camper you need to be age 8 -13 as of September 1, 2019. To reserve a camp spot, you must

  • Enroll in or be a current member of Bay County 4-H.
  • To enroll or re-enroll, go to: 4H Online.
    • New enrollees choose:  short-term member and 4-H member not enrolled in a club
    • New enrollees:  membership must be approved by our office prior to completing registration Continuing members
    • Click on:  Continue to Family
    • Scroll down to:  Register a Member in an Event
    • Choose Member and Choose Event from drop down menus.
    • Click:  Register
  • Pay $75 deposit and/or complete scholarship paperwork.
  • Full camp payment is due two weeks before we leave for camp.
  • If you need assistance paying for camp, call and ask about Scholarships.    

What do I need for camp?  Camp Packing List

Who will go with my child to camp?  Your 4-H Agent, Paula Davis, attends the week of camp along with paid camp staff, a camp nurse, and other 4-H Agents and screened volunteers from our camp cluster counties.    

Are there items to purchase at camp?  All campers and counselors will get a camp week t-shirts.  We also have some additional logo items available for purchase.  If you want to send additional funds for your child turn them in at check-in and we will have for the last day purchases at the camp store. Most items are $5-$10.  

Camp Counselor’s Information

Being a Camp Counselor is an excellent opportunity to gain skills and experience as a role model, in leadership, teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, all while having fun in a safe, learning environment.  Counselor spots are limited. To be a camper you need to be age 14-17 as of September 1, 2019. To reserve a counselor spot, you must

  • IF you are looking for a great way to spend a week of your summer, if you need community service hours for high school (college scholarships), and if you want to make a difference as a role model for others, become a Camp Counselor with 4-H.  The memories you make and create for others at Camp Timpoochee will last forever!
  • 4-H Camp Counselors are one of the most important parts of the camp week and can be a positive influence in a child’s life. You must be 4-H Age 14 or older and participate in mandatory counselor training. 

What goes on during the week: This week is full of learning and other fun activities such as snorkeling, swimming, fishing, archery, recreational games, campfires, camp dance, plus many more evening activities and more.

Can I set up a payment plan for camp?  Yes!  Come by our office to set up a payment plan.  Payments can be made monthly, and the full fee is due July 1st.

What are the cabins like?

 
There are 10 youth per cabin with campers sleeping in bunk beds.  Counselors and Jr. Counselors stay in the cabin with campers.  Each cabin is air-conditioned with en-suite showers, sinks and toilets.

About this Event

Join us on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in celebrating 93 years of camp at 4-H Camp Timpoochee! Come out and enjoy playing your favorite camp games, fellowship with other alumni, and walks down memory lane sharing your favorite Timpoochee stories! Let's not forget about S'MORES!! Lunch will be provided free of charge. Our camp store will be open so you can update your wardrobe with the latest Timpoochee swag. We encourage you to bring any pictures you may have of Camp Timpoochee and your best memories and stories to share! Please register each person attending so we will have an accurate count of who will be celebrating with us.
