Who We Are

Glades County Cooperative Extension is a team made up of the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Glades County Government. These three groups work together to help people in the community learn useful things like how to grow food, take care of animals, and protect the environment.

A long time ago, in 1914, Congress started the Extension Service. Its job was to take research from land-grant universities like the University of Florida and share it with people across the country. To do this, teachers and experts are placed in all 67 counties in Florida, including Glades County. This way, helpful information from the university can reach all communities in the state.
