Health, Wellness & Exercise

Moving your body every day is one of the best ways to stay healthy. Physical inactivity can increase the risk of obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic conditions.

Regular exercise helps you:

  • Strengthen your heart and muscles
  • Improve balance and flexibility
  • Boost your mood
  • Lower your risk of long-term health problems

How Much Activity Is Recommended?

  • Adults (18–64): At least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, such as brisk walking. You can also choose 75 minutes of vigorous activity, such as running.

  • Children and teens (6–17): At least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

  • Older adults (65+): Follow adult guidelines and add balance exercises to help prevent falls.

  • Everyone: Include muscle-strengthening activities at least 2–3 days per week.
