The UF/IFAS Extension Orange County Master Gardener Volunteers

Gnome Matter How You Slice it, it will be a Fun Day!

Join us on Saturday March 5th, from 9am to 3pm, for our Garden Festival and Plant Sale hosted the UF/IFAS Orange County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers! The event will be held at UF/IFAS Extension Orange County located at 6021 S. Conway, Orlando 32812. This free, fun-filled event includes expert speakers on all things gardening, plant/artisan/craft vendors, kid’s activities, a gnome scavenger hunt, and Master Gardener Volunteers will be available to diagnose your plant issues in our mobile plant clinic.

If you are interested in learning more about gardening, there will be Keynote Sessions by Tom MacCubbin on “The Dos and Don’ts of Florida Gardening” and Tia Silvasy will talk about “Florida Friendly Landscaping™.” Master Gardener Volunteers will host workshops and demonstrations on growing plants from seeds, putting the right tree in the right place, and growing plants from scraps. If being in the garden is more your thing, join in one of the Exploration Garden tours, on the hour from 9am to 2pm. You’ll learn about our wonderful gardens and how they are designed and maintained.

Shop for plants from local nurseries and if you like adding a bit of fun and whimsy to your garden, the artisans who will be at the day’s festivities will be right up your alley.

What festival would be complete without a Kid’s Zone?! Make it and take it projects and crafts will happen outside. Kids can paint rocks to look like gnomes, paper crafts and our 4-H members will help older kids make Chia pet gnomes or plant marigolds with a gnome accent stick. And there will be a gnome scavenger hunt and selfies with our gnome!

Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 5th. We look forward to seeing you at our fun-filled family event!
