Commercial Horticulture/Sustainable Agriculture
Commercial Horticulture is an important aspect of Extension education. Not only does this program area have specialists that can help growers produce healthy, economically viable crops as well as promote environmentally friendly and sustainable growing practices. The Pasco Extension Office has a Commercial Horticulture/Sustainable Agriculture Agent stationed in Sumter County that offers specialized information on horticultural practices aimed at commercial growers, business plan guidance, pest management in the field and greenhouse, as well as pesticide license training and exam prep/testing. Pasco County has a variety of crops in production, including blueberries, olives, pomegranates, bermuda and bahiagrass (seed), citrus, kumquats, and a variety of grains and other crops.
