The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) program of UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County offers free, on-site irrigation system evaluations for residential homes and businesses. This service does not apply to agricultural operations although requests for assistance with these operations can be directed to the UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County Office.

The FFL team works one-on-one with homeowners/businesses/communities across Pasco County who want to increase the efficiency of their irrigation system by reviewing controller programming and operation, performing zone-by-zone wet checks, and providing a resulting list of “water-wasters.”

Although no repairs are made, the final evaluation report provides details on recommended repairs/changes to make it easy for a DIY-er or an irrigation contractor to subsequently make repairs.

The irrigation evaluation process takes about 1 ½  hours for a 4-zone system; if there are more zones, the time will increase. Please note: evaluations on irrigation systems supplied by reclaimed water can only be conducted on Tuesdays between 8:00AM and 12:00NOON or Fridays between 8:00AM and 3:00PM. Potable water supply irrigation evaluations can be scheduled M-F 8AM-5PM.

Because these evaluations are done to educate and help conserve water, property owners/managers must participate fully in the irrigation evaluation with the FFL team members to learn how to properly perform future irrigation checks themselves.
