Broward County 4-H Youth Development

The Broward County 4-H Youth Development Program is a hands-on, practical educational program that focuses on building life skills in the areas of healthy living, citizenship, leadership, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) in young people ages 5 to 18.

4-H is open to all youth, ages 5-18, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, creed, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity. In Broward County, the 4-H program offers hands-on education and fun projects in many different areas such as marine ecology, photography, horticulture, food and nutrition, small and large animals, computers, and much more!

  • 4-H Community & School Clubs

Broward County has various community and school-based clubs led by dedicated adult volunteers. Youth in 4-H clubs work on projects throughout the year, developing essential life skills while exploring their interests. Youth have the opportunity to receive awards for project and club achievements at the annual Achievement Night. Can't find a club that fits your schedule? Visit our FAQ page to learn how to start one or join as an Independent Member.

  • 4-H School Enrichment & 4-H After-school

School Enrichment Programs allow 4-H staff and teachers to bring 4-H curriculum to the classroom and after-school programs. Programs such as embryology, college and career preparation, financial literacy, and other science and technology activities expose youth to important skills and concepts through the hands-on approach of 4-H. Materials and program leadership are provided by 4-H. Timelines for these programs depend on the content area and the needs of the teacher. Please contact the 4-H office for more information.

  • 4-H Special Events

4-H offers events at the county, district, state, and national levels. County events allow youth to compete in areas such as Demonstrations/Illustrated Talks, Public Speaking, Fashion Revue, and Share the Fun Talent Show. Top-scoring youth have the opportunity to advance to district and state levels. State events, such as 4-H University (at University of Florida, Gainesville) and 4-H Legislature (at Florida State University, Tallahassee) allow senior level 4-H'ers to experience life at a university for a week alongside other youth and university faculty. Visit Florida4H.org for more information about state events.
