Home Lawn and Garden
The Home Lawn and Garden program helps you create and care for a Florida‑Friendly Landscape. Florida‑Friendly Landscaping™ is an affordable way to design your yard using nine simple landscaping principles. These principles help you spend less time on maintenance and use less water, fertilizer, and pesticides. They also help protect Florida’s natural resources.
You can visit Discovery Gardens to see Florida‑Friendly Landscaping™ in action. The gardens are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Discovery Gardens is a Certified Wildlife Habitat, so no dogs or pets are allowed. Only trained service animals are welcome. Service animals are trained to do specific tasks for people with disabilities. Comfort animals and emotional‑support animals are not considered service animals under the ADA. Discovery Gardens is also a smoke‑free property. Thank you for helping us keep the gardens clean and safe.
If you need help with plant, insect, or soil problems, visit our Master Gardener Volunteer Plant Clinic. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can still drop off soil samples, insects, weeds, photos, or questions anytime, but during these hours a Master Gardener Volunteer will be there to assist you.
