• How Do I Become a 4-H Volunteer?

  🧠 Step 1: Decide to Volunteer and Explore 4‑H Roles

  Choose to support youth as they learn, grow, and explore their futures through 4‑H. Review the UF/IFAS Extension Florida 4‑H Volunteer Training materials and identify roles that fit your interests and schedule.

  📬 Step 2: Contact the County 4‑H Agent

  Meet with the Osceola County 4‑H Agent to learn about current program needs and discuss volunteer opportunities.

  🖥️ Step 3: Complete Your 4‑H Online Adult Volunteer Application

  Log in to 4‑H Online and create or update your family profile. Make sure your contact information is accurate, since email is the primary way the 4‑H program communicates. Enroll as an Adult Volunteer and select “Osceola County Club Leaders (Adult Volunteers Only)” as your club. You do not need to choose a project at this stage. Answer all questions carefully and submit your application. After submitting, continue to the required screening and trainings. Both the Screening and Youth Protection Training must be completed before your application can move forward.

  📬 Step 4: Notify the 4‑H Agent Your Application Is Ready

  Email the Osceola County 4‑H Agent to confirm that you have completed all parts of the application.

  🖐️ Step 5: Watch for Notifications From TrueScreen

  Check your inbox and spam/junk folders for an email from TrueScreen, the organization that conducts background screenings for Florida 4‑H. Respond promptly so appointments—such as fingerprinting—can be scheduled as needed.

  📬 Step 6: Notify the County 4‑H Agent of Completion

  Email the Osceola County 4‑H Agent once you have finished all steps in the TrueScreen process. Based on your screening results, you will receive notice of approval or denial.

  🎓 Step 7: Attend Orientation and Meetings

  After receiving your official appointment letter, attend the County orientation and volunteer training. Monthly leaders’ meetings are held throughout the 4-H year, except in December and February (Fair Month). These meetings provide important training and resources and are strongly encouraged. If you cannot attend, schedule an in‑person or virtual meeting with the County 4‑H Agent.

  🍀 Step 8: Start Volunteering

  Share your skills, connect with others, and enjoy helping youth learn and grow through 4‑H.

  Each club that takes part in the annual food booth fundraiser must hold a training with their members. The training materials are listed below. The training must include the PowerPoint presentation and at least one game or activity.
  Please turn in the provided sign‑in sheet (or your own), along with a list of the training materials you used.
