Who We Are

The Cooperative Extension Service is a nationwide public educational network and was established by the Smith-Lever Act of 1914. It is a partnership between state land grant universities, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the county governments throughout the nation.

In Florida UF/IFAS Extension is a statewide network of experts that fulfills the UF/IFAS outreach mission by partnering with communities to provide high-quality, research-based relevant education and expertise to foster healthy people, healthy environments and healthy communities.

What We Do

All 67 UF/IFAS Extension County offices disseminate science-based information to clients, helping them solve problems related to agriculture, horticulture, natural resources, water, energy, youth, families and communities.

The UF/IFAS Extension Miami-Dade County receives direct funding from the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces (PROS) Department, and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
