Attention

As Florida 4-H has monitored the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our 4-H members, families, volunteers, staff and faculty have been the top priority. With that in mind, and following the guidance of UF/IFAS Extension, all in-person 4-H activities have been suspended through July 31. This includes summer programs such as 4-H University, 4-H Legislatures and 4-H residential camps.

For many youth, these summer programs are the highlight of the 4-H year and many are understandably disappointed. However, in the spirit of 4-H, they are focusing on the future and how they can make a positive impact on their communities during this time. All Florida 4-H faculty and staff are working hard to find and implement alternative ways for our 4-H members, volunteers, and families to continue to learn, lead, serve, grow, and belong. We thank the 4-H community for continuing to be so patient, creative, and flexible.

We are still here to serve you by phone at 941-861-5000 and email to sarasota@ifas.ufl.edu, and you can find contact information for programs and staff members at sarasota.ifas.ufl.edu/staff. Additionally, visit facebook.com/ufsarasotaext, blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/sarasotaco or ufsarasotaext.eventbrite.com for our latest updates, and find a wealth of information at sfyl.ifas.ufl.edu/sarasota, www.scgov.net/extension, and edis.ifas.ufl.edu.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization. Over 230,000 members in the State of Florida help to make up the community of more than 6.5 million young people across America. 4-H is a non-formal, practical educational program for youth. Florida 4-H is the youth development program of Florida Cooperative Extension, a part of the University of Florida IFAS. 4-H uses a learn-by-doing approach and caring adults to help youth gain the knowledge and life skills they need to be productive, responsible citizens.
