MASTER NATURALIST

The Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP) is designed to provide participants an awareness, understanding and respect of Florida's ecological diversity. The Program prepares students for informed participation in community efforts to foster principles of sustainability, connectivity, and biodiversity.

Structure and Requirements

  • Classroom and field trip instruction
  • Required class outreach project
  • Certification of gradutes (great for professionals in ecotourism and related industries!)

  • An orientation to Florida's upland, wetland and coastal environments
  • A special emphasis on the natural ecosystems of Sarasota County
  • A behind the scenes look at the Sarasota County's efforts to protect our community's natural resources

  • An overview of relevant volunteer opportunities
